European Blackjack
European Blackjack is the game everyone has probably played at one time of another, usually around the kitchen table with friends or family. But now you can play this great game
online for free or
for real at any of our featured
Microgaming Casinos
It is a very straight forward game to play and if you have never played European Blackjack
before then allow us to give you a little more information about this great blackjack variant.
Microgamings version is played with two full decks of playing cards, which are fully shuffled before each new game starts, so card counting online is not possible.
The rules are just as straight forward and these state amongst other things that you can split a hand just the once and as such you can only ever play a maximum of two hands
in any one game.
You can, unlike most other Blackjack variants, be dealt multiple cards to a split Ace and should a split Ace be dealt a ten or ten valued card then this hand will be a 21
hand and not a Blackjack.
In European Blackjack you are not permitted to split unalike ten valued cards such as a Queen and a Ten or a King and a Jack.
In the game of European Blackjack you are allowed to double down on hands that total 9, 10 or 11 only. The
Dealer must stand on all 17 hands.
A Blackjack hand will pay out at odds of 3 to 2, and a winning Insurance bet pays 2-1. The house edge of the European Blackjack game is 0.42%.
European Blackjack - Hints and Tips
The best tip we can give is for you to get yourself a
Strategy Card
which will show you how to play
every single hand you are dealt.
Another hint is to always double down
when you are holding a ten, eleven or a pair of fives and the Dealer is showing a 2 - 9.
Another time to double down is when you have a twelve and the Dealer is showing either a 2 - 6.
Get a pair of Aces and you should always split them, no matter what the Dealers card is.
If Insurance offered then you should always decline it, as in this two deck game the house edge on the Insurance bet alone is a whopping 6.796%
